Love this camera. It takes great video. The optical Image stabilizer is a handy feature for shaky hands. Plus it records HD video in stereo sound. Not like the old video cameras with crappy sound recording. The pictures it takes are great quality. Easy to use. Highly recommend! Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom LCD

Canon PowerShot SX20IS 12.1MP Digital Camera with 20x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch Articulating LCD
For years I carried a video camera and VHS recorder separately, as well as an SLR. Even after the video was for the 8 mm tape and handed the camera much less focused on video and stills. I went through the 640 x 480 digital camera and discovered the horrible images, digital does not replace the film. I've made my film cameras and concentrated on DSLRs. I carry a pocket digital camera convenince, but back to DSLR, when I have the intention to take photographs.
I was recently looking at the pictures taken by a friend in the SX10. I was intrigued by the features, quality of photos and video. When I went to Amazon.com to check the price of this camera I saw the SX20 IS will be released. After seeing the features I decided to wait for this camera. I'm glad I did.
I have this camera the day it was a trip to Walt Disney World. When I took the digital SLR camera with me I thought this would be a great opportunity to learn about the SX20 IS. Since I have many pictures left behind Disney World DSLR most of the time and only took the SX20 IS.
Recently, I took pictures with the SX20 IS and Canon XSi digital SLR and I compared side by side photos. The results were consistent with the reviews I read.
In the light of day the photos are comparable. As the light deteriorates XS20 ES tends to show more noise. It is unacceptable to me, but not so good. In addition, the digital SLR is faster and more accurate focusing most of the time. However, the lens focal length would have to carry more equipment to DSLR and still not be able to take video.
I'm not an expert on video, but I think the quality is excellent with this camera. It is much sharper than the images of video cameras at my age. Being able to use the zoom during filming is great. Being able to take a still image during video recording is also a big plus in my opinion.
The LCD on the joint actually was beneficial. When behind a crowd or in a difficult situation, it is nice to be able to move the camera and still be able to compose the shot without guesswork. It is also useful when trying to change the perspective on a subject without having something stnad or lying on the ground. Self-portraits are also easier, just make sure to look at the camera, the LCD when you finally press the shutter.
Does this replace my DSLR? Not for situations where it has the quality of the image, the focus quickly criticism. However, for situations where you just want to enjoy a walk without carrying a camera bag this is a great option. The photo is still my preference, but I can see a video recording with a frequency much. Now all you need is some spare batteries (NiMH variety seem to work well) and SD parts. The external flash works in the SX20 IS DSLR and contributes to noise emissions. However, it is generally left to decrease volume.
I got what I expected, with this camera. As I can learn more about the different roles that I'm sure I'll enjoy it more.
Council. When storing the camera or load in a backpack, so use the pivot to face the LCD screen to the camera body. It protects the LCD screen. I was in sich a hurry to use the camera I forgot to do this and now have a lower risk on the LCD screen, a situation that could have been avoided.
